A deck and stairs that I was asked to build the other day so the owners of the house could use the sliding door in the master bedroom yet still be able to get the lawn mower around the side of the house. Cutest deck I ever built.

Do people still want their kitchen cabinets hand-painted in oil-based paint? Yes they do! Hand-painted cabinets have a subtle, warm, "organic" texture that cannot be replicated by "spraying" on a finish. The whole process is kinda meditative: LONG, SLOW, SOFT brush strokes the entire length of the piece being painted. Things must be CLEAN. Wet sand between coats and wash down the surface before putting on another coat of paint. The cabinets below I painted with Tricia George. We put on a layer of primer and something like 4 layers of paint....

Her name is Tricia George and she's been lucky enough to have been working as a decorative artist for all of her adult life (something like 22 years). I do lots of stuff for Tricia (although she doesn't let me do any of the "art")... like repair sheetrock, basepaint or figure out how to move her projects along. In the picture below, Tricia's client wanted a mural on the wall behind the Steinway grand piano but did not want to have the piano moved. Solution? Build a platform:
